Friendster Blog is now Powered by Wordpress!
IS IT not great that Friendster blogs are now powered by Wordpress, a popular and powerful blog platform?
I've just read the message this morning when I checked my mail. There was a message announcing an all-new Friendster Blog!
Now, Friendster blogs has become more customizable and it is now a lot cooler. I'm even thinking of continuing my Friendster blog, which I happened to abandon since time immemorial. It's just timely that my domain and hosting also expired today. So, in the meantime, ariellalisan.org will temporarily be off the line.
Friendster's moving to Wordpress is a good move because it introduced a better kind of blogging to Friendster blogger. Instead of a closed network to Friendster members, Friendster blogs are now open for all the world to see, which is the essence of blogging in the first place.

Looking for the Best Web Hosting Provider?
WHEN YOU are looking for the best web hosting service, you want to avail of the best yet the cheapest one, right? So, you browse from one hosting to another to find the hosting services most suited to you. But is it not too time consuming?
One good thing is that there is not a site that collates all information about web hosting service providers. It features a web hosting rating, which can serve as your guide in choosing the best service for you. People can rate the services and share their experiences with hosting service providers. So you would be able to know which service provider is preferred by most website builders.
Other than information of the service packages and promos of various hosting service providers, the site also offers web hosting tutorials to help those who are starting to build a website and help them set up their hosting, etc. I have only got my own domain and hosting package last year and I really found it difficult to start. But I as started to learn how, I have even helped other bloggers set up their their hosting and domains.
Of course, the best service providers deserves to be awarded. The site also has web hosting awards, which names the best web hosting providers in different categories. You can find the best budget hosting, best blog hosting, best Unix hosting, best Windows hosting, best PHP hosting, best forum hosting, among others. You migh also want to check if your host belongs to the best webhosts. And if it is not one of the best, then you might consider moving to the best ones.

Made My First PayPal-to-Bank Account Withdrawal
IT'S AMAZINGLY good. I never thought that it would be successful. I expected that my money would be returned to PayPal. But no, I checked my bank account yesterday and the fund I transferred from PayPal was there!
I had a problem last time about withdrawing my PayPal funds because I can't use my credit card for some reasons. As a verified user, I can transfer funds into my bank account. (Take note, you have to be a verified user before you can withdraw through a Philippine bank. Being verified means you have added a card into your account. You also have to know the PayPal code for your bank. Google it, keyword: "paypal bank codes". Haha.)
It takes about 5-7 days to transfer fund into a bank account. That's about the same length of time in withdrawing via a debit or credit card (I think, it's about $3.00). However, withdrawal through card costs much. Meanwhile, bank withrawal only costs Php 50.00, that's less than a dollar for amounts less than Php 7,000.00. In cases where your funds have to be returned to PayPal, you have to pay an additional fee of Php 200.00.
I expected than there would be extra charges but there was none. It really made me glad. Next time, I would be withdrawing through my bank account again. Hurray to PayPal!

IF I were not a physics teacher, I would have been in the printing business--Brochure Printing, newsletters, tarpaulin, advertisement, leaflets, among others. I would also be publishing my own magazines and journals, with me as an editor.
But even if I'm a teacher now, I'm still contemplating on doing some Printing Services at home. This is becoming a hype in the town. Lots of businesses choose tarpaulin for their advertising because it is cheap. Of course, I would offer other printing services that are of better quality than others.
My advantage over other competitors would be my skill. I have seen many of their jobs and they don't look like works of skilled professionals. I'm confident than the ones I have made are way better than theirs. That is very important in business. The quality of the output should be better than others.
Another thing is price. Mine would be more affordable. I would offer Cheap Brochure Printing, newsletter layouting, and graphic designing.
I'm positive that my plans would prosper in the nearby future. I really think I can't live without being able to do what I really love doing.

IT'S ALL about fame. What is I were a famous personality? What kind of life would I be having?
Will I be like Michael Phelps who holds the record for most number of gold medals won in the olympics after bringing home eight medals in Beijing 2008? Wow, that's an amazing feat. Really amazing.
And there's our very own Charice Pempengco who is making waves in the international music scene. Imagine a young Filipina on famous talk shows and concerts!
How about Pokwang, whom after rising up as a popular comedienne, she'd been called Aswang by another comedian, a veteran at that, from another station? This quite a bad thing or shall I say humor in bad taste.
Well, as they always say, fame lasts for only fifteen minutes. You won't always be on top. So, I'd rather be a more subdued and more peaceful person.
Have a great day!

DO YOU have a PayPal account? Do you know that you can easily be victimized by phishers who would trick you for your important personal information that they could use to amass your money?
Learn how to protect yourself by reading my post about protecting your PayPal account from phishers on HomewardBound. You sure wouldn't want to lose the money you earned from blogging and other online activities, would you?
By the way, I'm reviving this blog and transforming this into an informative blog on techie stuff. Though not really an expert, I would like to share the lessons I've learned for having blogged for four years already.
Have a great day, everyone!

ABS-CBN Reporter Ces Drilon freed

ABS-CBN reporter and Bandila anchor Ces Oreña-Drilon, cameramen Jimmy Encarnacion, and Minadanao State University professor Octavio Dinampo were freed today after more than a week of miserable ordeal under the hands of her captors, the Abu Sayyaf Group.
They were abducted in Sulu on June 8 as Drilon was digging for information for a story she was working on.
One of the cameramen, Angelo Valderama was released earlier.
In her interviews, Drilon blames herself for what had happened to her team, admitting that she had been hard-headed and have not informed ABS-CBN, to a full extent, what story she was pursuing.
She apologized to everyone who had been troubled by this happening, especially to her family.
She also thanked Sen. Loren Legarda for negotiating their unconditional release.
Their captors reportedly damanded Php 15 million ransom, but Sen. Legarda says that no amount of money were discussed in the negotiations.
