A Model Digital Printing Shop
Having worked as a research and publication assistant a few months back, I have developed an inkling for being in the print business. I foresee myself owning and managing a printing press, my dream business so to speak.
I got so excited when the office where I used to work then had acquired a colored printing machine that did not require printing plates, the images are digitally processed such that they are directly printed onto the paper instead of going through expensive printing plates. But that particular machine, I've heard, is very expensive. I hope, by the time I set up my business, printing machines like that would not be very costly.
The local printing press I have visited still use the old machines that are not only cost-efficient but also time-consuming. Printing our student publication before takes a week or more in the press. When I set up my own printing press someday, I would see to it that the processing would only take a maximum of three days.
In the US, based on my readings, they have very advanced systems in their printing presses. Ordering is done online, and the printer ships the output in just about 3 business days or less depending on the quantity. One company that produces Labels could be a good model for the business I have in mind. But of course, mine would not be just be a shabbier version since the lack of capital.
One very good feature of the company is that their price quotations are available online. You can check how much your printing order would cost by entering the quantity you desire. In our local printing presses, you have to call the management, or visit their office for the quote. Sometimes, the prices in local printers are inconsistent and there are some hidden cost. With Frontier Label, the price quote you see in their website is the actual cost you will be paying them. And in a day or two, printouts will already be at your doorstep.
That is the kind of service that I would like to give my future clients. But I still have so much to learn about digital printing business. The learning I got from the model business strategies I have read online is a good start.
